Primitive Fire Single Day Class
Difficulty Rating: Beginner to Intermediate
Fire making is one of the most difficult bushcraft skills to perform and something that takes time and practice to master. We will teach you the secrets to get you well on your way to perfecting this skill. This course will teach you primitive methods such as the bow drill as well as the modern ones. We will show you how to make a bow drill, use a ferro rod, the all night fire, how to build a below the ground fire, and more.
The class will begin with a hunt for fire making materials and the instructors will teach each student what materials to look for and what tinder works best. No pre made kits in this course! After each student has gathered enough materials then the instructor will demonstrate each method and begin letting the student make their own kits. We believe its very important for the student to learn how to make fire 100% from scratch in case they are ever caught in a situation with no modern materials or tools.
Food and Water: Water will be provided but you will need to provide your own food of your choice. We recommend quick field expedient meals such as Wise Food, Survival Cave Food or MRE’s. They can quickly be made at our primitive camps and won’t slow down the learning process. You can ship these meals to the course location if you don’t want to carry them. We will store them until you arrive.
Length: 1 days/ No overnight
Minimum Recommended Equipment: Fixed Blade Knife, ferro rod, folding saw, outdoor clothing, boots, overnight camping gear, small backpack, paracord, water bottle andd food.
We will not provide you with any gear, so please come prepared. You don’t need much equipment for our courses, though good equipment does speed the learning process up greatly! You don’t have to buy our gear to attend the course, but you need survival gear of equivalent quality.
